I got accepted to take the French class. It starts on the 16th of June, and I have ordered my books. The course is already open, so I have gone in there to print out some documents. The assignments are in Swedish and French which is a little strange, but I’m very glad it’s not just in Swedish! So far, I have a pretty good opinion of Miroi. That wasn’t entirely the case when I took Svenska som andraspråk 1, as the teacher was switched in the middle of the course and no one was told about it. The new teacher was not technologically inclined, and she didn’t keep Skype appointments. Hopefully that was just an anomaly in an otherwise solid school.
The Swedish class I am currently taking involves an enormous amount of work. Yesterday, I finished the first section and sent it in. There were some moments of panic; the fear that I would have to drop the course because I could not complete it. Thankfully, that was not the case.
As for the French, I thought to myself, “I really need someone to practice with”. I edited my profile on three language learning sites. In the past, I’ve gotten some requests. People look others up by last connection date, and if you log in regularly, then you catch attention. Nothing this time.
Back in 2012, I met an actual former teacher on one of those sites. After a Skype session, he gave me excellent feedback, particularly in pronunciation. But then I forgot about French, you know, with a new baby and all. This week, I tried to re-establish contact by contacting him again on Skype, and you know what? Three minutes after I sent him a message, he removed me from his contacts list.
Ouch.
I guess it’s back to square one for me.
For those of you with patience, I reward you with a snippet of Swedish. It is a rehearsed “radioföljetongen” that I had to send in with my assignment. It’s a radio announcement for Gösta Berlings Saga by Selma Lagerlöf. I advertise the book reading, read two excerpts, then advertise it again.
